Project 818 Project 815 Project 814 Project 813 Project 812 Project 811

History...

Project was set up in 1989 to form part of the "Discovery 89" camps that were held throughout the UK and which also coincided with the 800th Anniversary of the Mayoralty of The City of London.

The Corporation of London (now The City of London) who own Epping Forest gave sponsorship for this event. In return the Scouts and Guides at the camp at Gilwell Park undertook to do conservation work in the Forest. The camp was called Project 800 and was so successful that The City of London agreed to continue sponsorship towards the costs of the camp on an annual basis. The next camp was called Project 801 and so the tradition of naming Project has continued.

‘Project’ as it is called affectionately by those attending, is a conservation project, which is carried out annually by members of the Scout Association. Previous Projects have seen young people from the Scout & Guide sections, along with older members from the Venture Scout and Ranger Guide sections attended from all over the U.K.  Now Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members (up to the age of 20) are supported by members of the Scout Fellowship.
